Mr. Murji is an award-winning Grade 7 teacher with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). He is a recipient of the 2021 Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence, which recognizes his innovative approach to education. His colleagues have described him as a "warm, caring, passionate, fun-loving, and hardworking teacher who always goes beyond his role to enliven the curriculum."
Mr. Murji is known for his ability to transform student realities and empower them to contribute to their local and global communities. During the shift to online learning due to the pandemic, he created a unique educational "television show" for his students, blending content, storytelling, and visuals in an engaging and entertaining way.
In addition to his work with the TDSB, Mr. Murji has a diverse background in education and leadership. He has served as a Director of Education for the Aga Khan Development Network, and has held roles as an educational consultant for the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Aga Khan Museum, and as a visiting lecturer at Aga Khan University. His educational background includes a Master of Arts in Education and a Master of Teaching from IOE - UCL's Faculty of Education and Society.
